BANG! BANG! I SHOT YOU DEAD, only kidding?

Opposite left is cut from an article in the Independent On Sunday 30 August 2009 on the three day Military Odyssey Living History Event held in Kent Showground at Detling Hill. The article was about how successful this and other similar events are, and that next years 10th Anniversary Military Odyssey should me mega and well worth a visit. This year to mark 40th Anniversary of the surrender without terms, and demise of the Free Wales Army on 1 July 1969, following on a most awful piece of journalist lickspittal spite from John Humphries in his 'Black Propaganda' book: Freedom Fighters Wales's' Forgotten War, UWP. I thought to hell with it, why not lets make myself a commemorative FWA uniform, after all I designed it 'back in the day', and that was one of the daft reasons I got arrested and jailed for attempting to thwart the Investiture of an English Prince of Wales in 1969.

I never, got around to making or wearing an FWA uniform in the 'Sixties' because as a member of the Patriotic Front we had a parting of the way from the FWA. However, both FWA and PF were on trial together in 1969, so ''Old Comrades'' were ''old mates'' again and stayed that way over years since. Sadly, with demise of Glyn Rowlands last month, there are only three of the original ''Swansea Nine'' left. Thus in regards to all that has come to pass I have on occasion been out and about this year wearing this uniform, and will do so for the last time at the Cilmeri Commemoration this year. Then I shall contribute it to the so called National History Museum of Wales, to put along side their Cymdeithas yr Iaith Cymraeg display.

One of the events I attended this year dressed up in my FWA Uniform was the Fortress Wales event at Margam, great event you should go next year. If going dressed up in an FWA Uniform as I did be ready to say that you are a member of the Tyrolean Forest Fusiliers Reenactment Society ok! While at Forteress Wales, Margam event I seen the SWB Reenactment Society, and thought, if they can do SWB as a Living History Initiative, why not an FWA Living History Initiative, indeed why not! Guess the Cops would have something to say about that tho, and I do not really want to go to prison again. So Cilmeri 2009, and that's it!

My Uncle served out his National Service in the SWB in Eritrea fighting the ''Bandits'', he's wrote a great personal account of this and of his boxing career kicking of in those times. About 10 years ago, whilst working in London I met an Eritrean girl who had been brought up in a refugee camp in Libya, if I remember correctly. Her Father and Mother had to flee Ethiopian oppression in Eritrea before it had won it's Independence, she simply hated Ethiopians to the point of being almost racist about it, but there her life had been shaped as a refugee with plenty of bad experiences.
