My favourite hangs outs in London have in the past been in the pubs of Smithfield (free Xmas Dinners in pubs around the Market on Xmas eve, a great tradition where unsold Market Turkeys are donated to pubs around the Market for their customers), Southwark aka 'The Borough', great area for history up close to the Thames. Otherwise 'The City', Clerkenwell and not least Fitzrovia  and Soho day or night as a great buzz!!! This pre - Xmas Pwca Pub Crawl is a new one, I have had a long summer walk along the Thames on the Wapping side but never really got to know these parts other than in books on Smugglers, Pirates and Dockers Strikes. My brother introduced me to these pubs and we did an history field trip recently as we went from Pub to Pub and note in the Pubs below much interesting history set up on their walls plus fotographs all of which I will detail briefly below:

View from Snug, water was really splashing over seats
and tables outside.

Monastic Ruins, most of pubs around here were began by Monks as they were also heavy into brewing, I guess it's early example of Christian Commercialism.

The Ship, ignore the left over 'Jubilee Jacks', a comfy pub with some Sofas plus newspapers. An amazing large photo of the 1926 Strike with  huge convoy of troops with police protection off loading ships whilst striking Dockers look on.

Time to move across the Thames but not as below,
 saved that for another day.

By Boat not on either.

Took the Tube, safer.

The long walk to the hangman's rope for Smugglers and Pirates. Quite dangerous today, if you come out of Pub dead drunk and go down this alleyway as there is no stopping you just going down some steps straight into the Thames.

A pewter Bar as once was the tradition in many pubs.

At this point getting somewhat over my limit, better be careful as I do not want to drown in the Thames.

Getting Dark, guess time to bring the Pwca pub Crawl to an end.

One last pint, skipped the Captain Kidd

Not sure which of above photos is off, serious drink
and camera issues at this point.

Think it was my brothers idea to head off via Canary Wharf, center of booming capitalist London, no recession here and never will be as there wasn't in the 'Thirties' great depression. This was the period when still the 'Old Industrial' areas suffered as today, then London went thru the great Suburbs building and London Rich organised Charity for Welsh Miners Families.

Yes! the Drinking has ruined the photography.

Just one last drink?

Obviously I am on my back and looking up but at what and where?

Thankfully found some where to sleep it all off, looks pretty Pwca comfy.

Happy Xmas to one and all accept a few prats out there as example Edwyn 'Blackberry Boy', 'Three Name' Leon and Sara the 'Bride of Chucky' also of course 'Rocks' who I think badly needs some Rock and Roll off the Cilmeri Cenotaph along with the rest of the false Rali Cilmeri prophets of any Patriotism that does not self advance themselves. So, rock on Russell you did a great job mate, if it were not for you and a few others, these 'geezers' would see the truth of Rali Cilmeri buried and the reality of Patriotic Struggle over and above their hobbies kicked into touch whilst they plot with other WAG Puppets to see a 'Vichy' Style Cymru/Wales become the reality and not any true CYMRU RYDD.

So, Happy Christmas and a Fighting New Year, yes?

THAT INCLUDES NO WINDMILLS ON WELSH LAND.
